Diocese of Rupert's Land

Dear Louie,

This has to be a quick response but here it is.

 1) "to listen to the experience of homosexual people"

Our diocese participated in a dialogue experience using national church
resources a few years ago (prior to my arrival) At present, we have 4
clergy/theologians, one of whom is gay, writing a series of
discussion/dialogue pieces in our monthly diocesan paper designed to look at
issues around gay/lesbian inclusion and ministry in the church.

2) "to assure them that they are loved by God."

I look for opportunities to affirm this message (such as presiding at a
Eucharist for members of Integrity (Canada) who were present at General
Synod in July) and we have at least 2 gay clergy employed in our diocese.

Hope this helps.

In Christ,

Donald Phillips, Bishop
Diocese of Rupert's Land,
